PLEASE HELP I THINK IM GETTING SCREWED!?

heres the dea, my sister doesnt have a license and was driving her husbands car. (she does this alot) he has full coverage. she was leaving my house and hit my bfs truck. he got and estimate for $923 the truck is worth $2000. they said it is totaled. her husband said that he will contact his insurance and tell them that he was driving and that we have to agree with that. he said we need three estimates. does this sound right? he also said we dont need to contact our insurance at all. is this right? what should we do? please help!
