How do people in most Indian cultures greet and treat new people?

earlier indian(hindus) people used to greet others by saying namaste.people also used to touch the feet of their parents or grandparents and other elderly relatives.it was done to show them respect and take their blessings.the muslims used the word lamwalekum.sikhs used the word sasriakal and christians used to greet each other in the same manner as the other chrsitians from other parts of the world do.but now the scenario has changed.people have become more westernised.namaste is replaced with hi,hello and usually a hand shake.especially among the people in metros and big cities.people have started giving more importance to english language and english manners.if you wana see true indian culture you better visit thailand they are more indians than we are
