How can i clean a wall of mould cheaply?

have been scrubbing the wall in my wc desperately trying to remove the mould and mildew from around the main pipes. nothing so far has worked because it's soaked into the paint work. any suggestions so that i don't have to pay a fortune for cleaning products.
