Can you get custom firmware on a psp 2001 with 5.50 firmware?

I have been waiting for a long time to get custom firmware. i want to put 64 games on it and save umd games on the memory stick. i want to know if i can already get custom firmware on a psp 2000 with a non custom firmware of 5.50. if it is available can you tell me step by step on where to get it and how to install and if you know the warnings.
